If you have the Baer Sport Brake Kit which uses 12.5" Corvette rotors that are turned down on a lathe, Todd's rotors will initially cost about the same for the rotors from Baer. After the intial buy you only need to replace the rotors and keep the hats further reducing the cost in the long run. Todd is great to deal with too.MYSHO1 said:I have 12.5 rotors in on my sho, my question is if i wanna get more how would i buy them, and where? Should i buy blanks and have them drilld?![]()
When I called Baer it was for the 13" Corvette Eradispeed 2 piece rotors which they quoted me over $500 for the two. I had thoughts about making new caliper brackets that will hold the caliper .25" higher off the rotors. The one piece stock rotors were $175ea plus zinc washing, or plus slotting and drilling if you want. I just thought the willwoods are easier to get, cheaper and lighter.SHO92 said:I didn't price the 12.5 rotors directly from Baer when I was looking, but the 13" Corvette rotors seemed to be about $75 each from different parts stores. Pep Boys actually quoted me over $150 each because they could only get them from Power Slot according to the parts counter guy.
Then you'd need to find a machine shop that would be willing to use a grinding stone/lathe to turn the rotors down .5". After asking around a little, I quickly gave up. Very few shops are willing to machine down cast iron, and the few that would do it, said it would be expensive, over $100 per rotor.
I didn't want to spend $350 at the least, everytime I needed new rotors, so I went with the TCE 2 piece rotos for ~$500. Next time I need rotors, the cost should only be a fraction of that $350, and I get the added benefit of lighter rotors.
