I just bought back a `99 SHO I sold last year. We did a bunch of work to this car since it was bought with a spun rear intake cam. Rebuilt the top half of the motor. 15k miles later it spun a main bearing so I bought it back, motor is out, crank going to the machine shop, etc.

However, I noticed the passenger side rocker is looking a little rough around the edges. To be honest I am afraid to pull off the plastic as it may not got back on!

After searching it looks like many people have asked, but no one has come up with a source for a replacement rocker aside from going to the junkyard and finding them.

Does anyone know where a replacement rocker could be purchased from? Or am I off to the local yard to see if I can find one?

In addition does anyone know if the 00-05 rockers are the same as the 96-99?

Thanks

Did you try FORD? I can still get a rocker for my 98 Explorer so you might be in luck. Also I highly doubt a rocker from a 00-05 will work.

They are something like $350 each from Ford.

I was curious about the 00-05 because that center section of the car is the same right down to the doors. I need to a do a little more research on that.

I am no authority, but the rocker panels from the 00 to 05 will fit the Gen 3 style. The 00 to 05 cars were restyled Gen 3's and the doors are interchangeble.

This is totally out of left field, and is offered only as a last-ditch solution. You can get Gen 1 rocker panels. You would have to measure up the cars (regular models with no cladding) and see if they are similar enough for a body guy to modify and use.
At $27.50 a side, it is tempting to consider them.
