Recently for some reason my ringer chime went from perfect volume to virtually none.
I can just barely hear it if there are no other noises.
Can I still get one? And to fix it, all I can find is that it is supposed to be mounted on the right side of the steering column. Doesnt say where. Under the dash or is it in the plastic clamshell where the ignition is?

Thanks, Rich

20190927 144429 The foam ring inside the module dry rots and the chime ring (like a little cymbal) touches the plastic case, muffling the chime. They are obsolete. I have not been able to find a new one, you might be able to find a NOS, however, the foam will most likely be dry rotted too. I have rebuilt a couple of them. I glued some foam where the original had dry rotted away.

It is white or black, under the driver side close to the center console.

Thank you very much Airborne. Good Info. Hopefully will get to it in a week or so. I will try repairing mine before looking for another one.

Update, I repaired the chime unit today. Boy, that was one of the easiest car repairs I have had in a while.
Pulled it out, dug around the basement and found some foam that was an exact match for the original, texture and thickness. Glued on the new foam and it is nice and loud again.

Thanks, Rich

I took mine out, I ended up scraping it. If I still have the piece you can have it for free. It used to drive me NUTS when I would clean my car. I never took my key out though lol
