Correct me if I'm wrong but on the '89 and '90 SHO's, they used a 9.25" flywheel right and then did a recall on them and put a 9.75" flywheel correct? Answer that and also by looking at them how can you tell the difference? Cause I'm going to the salvage yard to get a used one and I need to know how they differ by looking at them. shrug

I'm almost positive that only 89's had the 9.25 in. clutch. I have a MINT flywheel that only has to be resurfaced. It's 9.75. If you want it it's yours for $20+S.H thumb I may have clutch for you also.

As far as checking which size is in the car, you need to remove the starter to see in there. There will be a smooth transition between the pressure plate and the flywheel if it's a 9.75" clutch. Other wise you feel and see a runoff from the pressure plate to flywheel if it's a 9.25" clutch.

I believe that pictures of the two clutch styles have been posted here before. The difference is that the pressure plate on the later 9.75" clutch is cast iron and extends to the outside diameter of the flywheel. The earlier 9.25" clutch had a thinner, stamped steel pressure plate that did not extend to outer edge of the flywheel.
