Well I have been looking at getting back into a SHO ever since I sold my 99(love that red color!). Sadly there aren't many available up in Alberta, or within a 1 day drive. Been watching the SHOtrader on here, but the cars all seem to be way too far away for me to pick them up.

I found a 1997 SHO on kijiji and I am not too afraid of a project and since my GF has developed an interest in cars/trucks it could be fun. Only thing scaring me away from that black(gf favorite car color) is the rarity and cost of the replacement motor.

Basically I am looking for opinions or options on the car. Honestly, I would prefer a v6 with a manual(SHO or Contour SVT), but the GF wants an auto and loves the v8 sounds. Anyone on here near alberta have a secret stash of 3.4 motors for sale? Or can point me in a direction of a SHO or CSVT in better shape? I got tax refund money burning a hole in my pocket!

There's a brand new old stock shortblock on ebay right now...it's $380.

I called for shipping to detroit...it was $135 or so.

Ebay item number : 390295874800

Hrmm, that short block doesn't seem like a bad deal. I will have to do some planning now.

Well I appreciate the help, but sadly I think I am going to put my SHO thoughts on hold. Trying to get rid of my 06 f250 and get into something a bit newer and not lifted, and more family friendly. Possibly an Edge sport with the eco boost, or even a new 2012 SHO if I can convince the old lady about it.
