Replace 2013 backup camera with newer?

The backup camera on my 2013 sucks. Especially at night. Tons of glare, and borderline useless when it’s really dark. Meanwhile, my gf’s parents ‘18 Taurus SEL backup camera on that tiny screen is much better.
Would replacing it with one from a newer year be a simple plug-and-play or is it a matter of the screen definition or reprogramming or compatibility with the older system? Down the road I’d like to (possibly foolishly) spend the money to do the Sync3 upgrade but in the meantime, if swapping the camera will improve visibility, that’d be great. Anyone have experience with this at all?

I might be missing something but that looks like it’s for the Interceptor, not sure if it’s the same as the civilian Taurus or not

I replaced mine and it was a lot better. Your camera is probably just bad.

It’s the same with other Ford cameras too. I think their quality control just sucks when they build the optics for them. In our old Fusion, the camera was washed out and fuzzy. Had a rental Fusion and noticed it was crystal clear. Somehow the decklids came apart and the two cameras got swapped before we turned the rental in. Lol

Mine went bad, was grainy and hard to see. I didn't realize until I got a loaner Taurus while the dealer had it for unrelated service and I noticed the camera was much clearer on the loaner. Called the dealer and had them to check and they changed it under warranty.

Mine keep showing up upside down what should I do is it a diy type job where should I order replacement from

Takes about 10 minutes to replace. Amazon will have the camera.
