I am trying to remove my center console to rewire my OD on/off switch I have a 93 ATX and I have removed the 4 screws in the center box, 1 in cup holder and 1 in ashtray area. It seems like there are a couple screws up front and I can't find them. Are the under the carpet thing that runs from the front to back?

I don't have much knowledge in the gen 2 area... but in the gen ones... there are 2 screw in the sides of the console towads the front by your feet on both sides, there are little "caps" covering them... give that a try ????

If you got all those screws, it should just come right out. there are clips holding it down, check under the ashtray, it may have a screw or 2 under there, but other than that, it has clips which snap in. Good Luck!

There's a guide on the SHOPP website in the modification section for putting a Gen II console into a Gen I, maybe that will be helpful...

The Gen II console is generally a whore to pull out. Once you get all the screws, the clips still hold it tight, to the point it will make you think you missed a few screws. Just grasp the upper piece and give it a tug.

FYI, the console is two pieces - the upper plastic piece with the box, ashtray, cupholder, etc. and a lower piece, which is the part with carpeting on the side.
