Want to ask a question. How close is the strut or strut spring from the tire is suppose to be? I had taken my rear tires off to check rear brakes, they are good. But when I put the tire back on I noticed that the bottom of the spring almost touches the tire. I mean I can't put my fingers in between the tire and the lower portion of the spring seat. Is this normal? I have stock wheels and the tires are 225/60/16. [Still want to post this] I think I answered my own question. I looked in the book and my tires is suppose to be 215's. The tires were on the car when I bought it and have paper work from a well known tire company here in the NW. But still the springs are awfully close. I have all new bushings in the front and I am starting on the back and this caught my eye.

As long as they're not touching or rubbing, it's good to go. It's not at all unusual for their to be very little clearance between the strut or the spring perch and the tire. You can keep an eye on the strut and the tire for witness marks, but generally the tire doesn't deflect much at the top under load.

thanks, worried about it after I saw what it looked like. But since I got it back on the road, I have put about 400 hundred miles on it and now I want to start rebuilding the rear like new sway bar and end link bushings and etc. Then I saw the spring. When I had the tire off of the ground, I spun it by hand and heard no rubbing but boy is it close.
