My 2010 SHO has an issue with the rain sensor falling off of the windshield. A local glass repair shop looked at it and said the part would need to come from the dealer. Before I go that route has anyone been able to re-attach theirs to the windshield?

TIA

It all really depends but I find it funny that the glass shop didn't have the means to reattach it as long as the sensor itself is intact. There's a special glue that's used to mount the sensor to the windshield. I know for a fact that when Safelite replace my windshield they had the glue and remounted everything when the new glass was installed.

It can be re-glued no question...it's finding the proper glue that the key here.

He mentioned that it looked like someone had used butyl in trying to repair it. He was in a rush and didn't charge me so I can't complain.

That is definitely the wrong thing for the sensor attachment. What you are looking for is the windshield rain sensor gel pad. I tried to do some searches for some specific to your SHO but I couldn't find anything quickly that was an exact fit.

If you have a Safelite glass shop near buy you might be able to buy one from them and just fix it yourself. I don't think it's really difficult.

Good luck getting it fixed.
