I finally found a donor car at the local ewe pullet yard, with a good column and key in it. I was wondering if anyone knows the quickest way I can get it out? Ive never looked at one in depth so I don't know if they can be disconnected in different sections, but since I am going to have to pull it in the cold, I want to be in and out. 95 atx

My experience

Just finished replacing the heater core on my '92 mtx .... had to lower the steering column.

Remove the 4 bolts ( torq bit 20 ?) that holds the big metal plate (below steering column) .
Remove 4 screws ....plastic steering column cover(behind steering wheel)
Remove 2 nuts that hold cross bar to dash panel(below steering column)
Remove bolt on "pinch nut"(looks like a collar with a bolt passing through it located near the base of the floor board... near the rubber boot/flex joint)
Loosen "pinch nut" with screwdriver a bit
Remove 4 nuts that hold steering column to dash panel.

As for the electrical connections....
Undo the small bolt (7 or 8 mm) that holds the "multi function switch" or turn signal lever to steering column
Other connects are easily undone.

My car's a '92 mtx so your 95 atx should be pretty much the same.

P.S. wear thermal underwear....

what he said

in addition to the 20 or 25 torqx, you need a deep 13mm and either 13 or 15 for the pinch bolt in the u-joints. the pinch bolts are very tight, so you will need a good wrench for that.
