Ok, I have a bad radiator tank...the spout that leaves the radiator to go to the overflow tank is broken, thus the water leaks out slowly (not to the point where it overheats, but enough that i have to add water about twice a month). I know a local mechanic here in houston and he told me to take it to a guy that did radiators to get JUST the tank replaced. I was just wondering if this is a good alternative to getting the whole radiator replaced due to the one little spout that is broken.

Thanks,
Aaron

When my radiator cracked on me, I went to Pep boys and got a tube of J.B. weld and slapped it on there. Worked great, until the fins rusted out! squint

If you've seen how the plastic tanks are attached to the radiator, chances are you'd end up with more, bigger leaks having the tank replaced. A new radiator should be less than $100, and the labor should be the same since he'd have to pull the radiator anyway to do the tank. Modine P/N 2192 for MTX and 2372 for ATX. I think there's a guy selling them on eBay for like $49.00.

Some plastic weld or epoxy would probably do the trick for a few months if you weren't in a rush to spend the money for a new one.
