Hi, to all you experts out there, could somebody please tell me whether or not a strut bar is made where you do not need to remove the hood struts? My boyfriend has a 1991 ford taurus sho. He bought strut bar off of ebay and when he put it on his car it would not fit, and he says they are made. However, the person who sold him the strut bar says that they are not. I paid for the strut bar so I would like him to have one that is functional, yet I do not want to send something back if what my boyfriend says is untrue. Thank you to anyone who can help!

First of all - WELCOME to SHOForum! Get your man on here, too - there's alot alot of good info here.

There is NOT a strut brace made that doesn't require relocating the struts. BUT, the good news is - that's all they need, is relocated. There's some info here (using the ever-popular SEARCH function), or by contacting Adam (handle: ACV1081).

Good luck - I'm sure you'll get what ya need here.

Thank you both very much. The information is really helpful. I will get him on here, I used a name he would use. I will do the search! Thanks, Jennifer

Jennifer,

A simpler, cheaper alternative is to just get a prop-rod to hold the hood open. Relocating the struts is nicer, but it isn't absolutely necessary.

Not to mention, if you use a prop rod you can open the hood MUCH farther than with the struts attached. I've considered getting the strut relocator, but to me it's more important to have the hood open really high (but that might be because I end up working on my car alot squint )

Thank you all! Wow I am so impressed with how friendly and helpful everyone is. Probably the best thing to do is to return the strut bar, and buy the prop rod, because he is always working on his car. If the bar cannot be returned, I'll look in the parts forum and I'll look up Adam Vernay. Thank you so much.

Sounds like there is some confusion here. Install the Strut tower brace, remove the two hood struts and use the hood prop to keep it open when working on the car. thumb
