My understanding is the 2010, 2011 and I think the 12 as well never came with a drain plug on the ptu. I just added one a few days ago and I got 14 oz of fluid that drained out. By far the most I’ve ever been able to retrieve.
So, is that the vent tube and can that white part under the cap come out?

Without following that tube down in person, it’s hard to say what it’s attached to. I DON’T believe it is OEM. Looking at a dozen photos on google and SM105K SHO, who has the same year, none of them have that tube.

Ok so I’ll try and follow that tube down to the source. I do remember doing a search on “ptu vent” and saw a picture with the same cap and lettering but it wasn’t clear as to that being the actual vent tube. Thanks for the help, if I do find out for certain, I will post.

Yep, I think it is. My tube didn't come up that far, but that cap looks exactly like mine. I didn't pull the white part off, so I can't answer that unequivocally, but theoretically, yeah, you should be able to. I don't know if you could put it back on, though.

I followed it down to an angle fitting that looks like its sitting on top of the ptu. I’m not 100% sure because there’s not much room to see through from the top. I was able to pull the cap off and I stuck a small funnel in there but since I’m not sure I thought I would wait until I do have a warm fuzzy feeling that when I pour the gear oil down that tube, it’s actually going into the ptu instead of something else.
In the mean time I did start a flush with some brake cleaner and a cheaper 75w140 (valvoline synthetic) . The second flush I tried Motor Flush made by Motor Medic. Both times I ran it for about 5 minutes in gear and then drained. I’m not noticing any more gunk but it still drains fairly dirty.

Very well done!

Don't know if it helps but...if you take the passenger wheel off, you can get to the fill plug on the side of the PTU with 2 foot 3/8" extension. it's not that bad. You could take that out, to vent as you fill from the vent tube above.

That’s how I’ve been filling the PTU. I run a tube down the back side of the motor and bend it into the fill hole. Then have my wife pour the fluid until I yell at her to stop. I also take out the drain plug with a couple feet of 3/8 socket extensions from the passenger side wheel well.
