Anyone know what the part number is on this line and where to get it? The one sticking out from the pump that looks nice and wet.

Ill have to investigate further, but how hard is it to replace this line, ive never done anything with ps. (the subframe will still be dropped when i do it possibly). Its probably the line right?

I think I'm finding the SHO game to be a continual kick to the gut.

If it's leaking between where it's connected onto the pump you can tighten it I think to see if that helps. If it's leaking where the hose is crimped into the metal piece it's time for a new hose. I have a spare set I think if you need it.

The high pressure line on my '91 3.0L was the PowerCraft 71829 for $26.99 from AutoZone. It is a bugger to reach that connection on the pump.

Have you been losing power steering fluid? I ask this because the wetted area can also be caused by a leaking rear bank exhaust camshaft seal at the CID sensor. Take a close look at the parts under the CID sensor and above to power steering pump to determine if the leak is from above the pump. If you can run a paper towel under the CID sensor and find it dripping with oil, the source of the mess may be the camshaft seal.

The set of three camshaft seals (the fourth cam does not penetrate the head to allow room for the alternator) is the Fel-Pro TCS45870 and is only about $15 from various sources (AutoZone RockAuto.com). However, the effort to access and repalce these inexpensive oil retaining devices is beyond a timing belt replacement.

Sorry I didnt reply sooner, just got the chance to go under and get another look. I am loosing PS fluid. A nice puddle developes overnight under the wet spot. I don't belive it is the CPS cam seal (though it is gummed up and next on the list) because the car hasnt been ran in over a week and i would assume that all of the oil would settle down below the leak point whereas the resovour for the power steering is above.

I didn't have this big of a leak before i dropped the subframe, so im betting it has to do with the rack pulling down on the line, even though i thought i tied it up fairly well. I think that it is leaking from the connector to the pump and would like to try tightening it before i go replacing the line.

Scott, that connection does look very hard to get to. Do you, or anyone reading this, have any pointers? It looks impossible without taking the pulley off.

$26.99 from autozone isnt bad and they're local, so i probably won't need the set from you Beth, but thanks for the offer :thumb:

No worries David, if you do end up wanting or needing it let me know and I can ship it back with your tranny under the bell housing.
