Velvet SHO
New Member
View media item 586As the title says, new owner of a 2018 Burgundy Velvet Metallic Tintcoat non-pp SHO. Searched for months to find a low mileage, non salvage car.
Discovered lots of junk out there.
Found this gem with 4,350 miles on it.
Picked it up late October. Enjoying the car immensely so far.
A little background:
I am 55, been a gearhead all my life. First car was my father’s 1969 GTO Judge, that he ordered new.
Sold that after many..*cough* bad choices.
Got my hands on my Grandfather’s 1980 Mazda 626. Set it up to SCCA Autocross. Drove it into the ground.
Floundered around in a 1st Gen Acura Legend for a few years, before snapping up a 2001 Dodge Neon R/T.
Drove that for many years, until...
while looking around on Autotrader for gits & shiggles, I stumble upon a 2006 Pontiac GTO. 5,300 miles, one old guy owner, his sunny day ride.
Bought it sight unseen. Been my daily driver for 10 years. Love that car.
Still have it.
But, as we all do, we must move forward. Needed something more “taking road trips” friendly for the wife, as her 2014 F150 tow package truck will beat you up after a few hours in the seat.
Hence, the new SHO. Needed the AWD to get around in the Nebraska snow. I am a BNSF road conductor in Lincoln. I ride trains all day, all night, 24/7/365. I have no set schedule. I go to work two hours after they call me.
Don’t want to wake up the wife to haul my sorry butt to work in a blizzard at 2am.
Apologies for being so long winded.
I am excited to begin this new adventure with my first turbo car, soaking up all the useful information these forums provide.
Thank you in advance for the helpful tips to keeping this thing running for years to come.
Yours,
Gentry
