curious once a cam is spun is it too late? is there a way to get the sprocket in its original location to weld it up? i 'm doubting it but just wondering.

Once a cam is spun, its toast unfortunately.

And as far as i know, nobody makes cams prewelded unless you order them from someone like Doug @ FPS or Kirk at NESHO.

well there is a way to weld failed cams i have one welded on my car now.. there is a way to line the spocket and i been told by a few people its easier to say it not possiable then to deal with welding a failure.. but few people have told me that thye have had failures welded with no probs long as the welder is a very good welder;)

so I have a set of cams from a failure car i scored for free. only one cam has a spun sprocket, i assume only one normally spins because by then its too late. how do i get it lined back up to weld it? i'm a pretty proficient welder and i'm going to weld the set. maybe i should just practice on the junk one?

We charge $150 to weld all 4 cams, plus return shipping.

If you send them to us, we can usually turn them around in the same day.

The welding and aligning is a little tricky and is better left to those with experience. We've only seen a few of these.

:hail:i take it you don't want to offer any tips on getting the spun sprocket in the correct position then? only thing i notice is the dimple on the sprocket is lined up with the dowel that aligns up the timing chain sprocket.

well the way i lined my up was with the dimples on the spocket and i cant remenber for sure but beleave there is one on one of the cam loobs both thos line up i have like almost 10k on my failed spocket

my car had just spun another bearing after 4k so now its down again and i thought that maybe if was that cam b4 i pulled the oilpan off so i pulled the cam covers that cam is still strong as can be, atleast from what i could tell

the way i found out how to line the spocket was looked at the other cams to see if they had a way that they lined up by come to find out long as the dimples are matched you should be good my car ran after :woohoo:
