I got to drive my wife's 2010 SHO today. After a few errands the 'power steering assist fault' light came on. Pulled out of parking spot, no p/s. Drove a couple miles, no p/s. Let it sit about an hour to start again, no p/s assist fault light and I have power steering. Any ideas? 76k miles.

Thanks, Tom

See what d.t.c.s you have and go from there.

If you have a warning, dtcs were likely set.

So I have the exact same problem. Morning drives to work I have power steering. Afternoon after work I do not. If I drive late at night then I do not have it in the morning. I have checked and I only have the information board warning and no codes for the steering but I do have a bunch of ABS codes.

Clear the DTCs you have and see what comes back. The ABS module DTCs you have makes me think you have a network fault. More specifically the network off line u0073. Something is fishy.

I have before I always get the ABS faults and PCM and ECM and TCM faults coming back. I personally think that my computer is *****. Other things mess up all the time too.

Off some advice I've seen from others...change the battery. These cars eat batteries, and anything...ANYTHING less than a completely perfectly operating battery causes strangeness with the car.

Mine was doing that a lot if the car was parked for 5 days or more. Changed the battery, fixed the issue and now it does that once in a blue moon.
I've found that if I wait about 30 seconds every time I start the engine and let the car do its startup cycle (tachometer and speedo run, sync, phone, etc), everything runs perfect.

Went out for good this time. Took it to local shop, he said it needs reprogrammed, take it to Ford. Ford charged me $130 to diagnose the problem, needs steering gear box, front end alignment, and reprogrammed. $2K! Another Ford dealer said 4 hours labor about $700 for the part, around $1,200. There now.
