Whenever multiple weird things start happening, I always wonder: How good is your battery, and how good is the alternator? A bad diode in the alternator is know to drive all sorts of things nuts.

Also, a COP that's arcing to ground (or not arcing at all) can really futz with things.

So what's your concern that caused you to pull dtcs? I'm trying to see what the big picture is here

This dtc would only afect your power steering. With no warning messages or loss of power steering, this is not a dtc you need to be worried about.

To answer your question, I'll ask a question.

What is engine braking?

This engine is a heat pump. You compress air, add fuel, burn the fuel and this expanding gas pushes down the piston to creat torque to rotate a crankshaft. The momentum from that combustion helps start the process over again.

If all things are the same, and you dont add fuel and the throttle plate is closed, as the engine tries to breath and a vacuum is pulled in the intake and cylinder on the intake stroke slowing down the engine rpm. It the torque converter is locked up the car will slow down trying to overcome the resistance of the engine pulling a vacuum. The higher the r.p.m. the more brakeing is applied as there are more instances of slowing down the pistons.

So, if the throttle is open, there is going to be less of a vacuum. if the air cant be pushed out, you cant pull air in. If fuel is being added unintensionally. if the torque converter is slipping your not going to have a conection between the drive wheels and engine. If the forward gear is slipping same scinerio.

So there is a few things.

The SWAS goes bad sometimes, but you won't know what the problem is until you open up the steering column. Hopefully just a dirty/corroded connector. Since the steering wheel is one of 3 inputs (in automatics) the driver provides to the "system", if the sensor is not providing accurate data, the system will not respond appropriately.

OK.
My MKS Ecoboost went through ****, and around 2000K before we found it.
RODENTS!
Yup.
Ate through wires.
Main harness.
Then second time because not all wire bites found initially.
Good news? Insurance will cover...

So the steering gear is failing and thats what led to the communication problem from the power steering to the ABS
