I'm looking to get some parts powder coated and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a good powder coater in the East Valley area (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler)? Also do I need to do any preparations for the parts being prior to service or would the powder coater take care of that?

Thanks for all the info in advance,
Enos

I've used Arizona Powder Coat (on Tom's recommendation) with good results. You just need to have the part isolated (i.e., one piece, no pieces bolted together, etc.). They did the subframe for my silver car and did all the prep (blasting) and then coating.

There's a place in Tempe as well, but I have no experience with them.

I have also used AZ powder coat, with good results. Ask for the F-O-T pricing. It is pronounced as individual letters standing for friend of Tom, who is the owner. Just make sure you are not asking Tom himself for the F-O-T pricing if you don't know him;)

I used industrial power-coating for my G3 rims. They charged me $35 a rim witch I thought was fair and they did a really good job. They are located on 7th ave south of lower buckeye I think. May want to look them up to be sure.

35 per wheel is a good price. AZ Powder Coat quoted me 50.00 per wheel without seeing the wheel. Since all of the old coating must be removed with sand blasting or chemical solvents (when the old coating is powder coat or epoxy paint), they couldn't give me an accurate quote without seeing the pieces.

Keep in mind that they ALWAYS quote high so they have some wiggle room. Almost everything I've taken to AZ Powder Coat I've gotten done for less than their quote; and it seems like the longer I hesitate, the lower the price goes. Getting slow in my old age DOES have some benefits.

how much was that subframe prepped and painted? Also is the powdercoat holding up to this weather and terrain well? and might as well ask since my car is silver, what color did you go with?

I went with gloss black on both the 91 and the 95; holding up very well. Hard to see oil drips on it till after about three days of dust sticks to the oil.
