I recently redid a koni strut insert and housing with some help from my brother, SHOtimes, and a Chiltons manual. I believe I put it all back together in the most logical way possible, with things all pretty much looking like they have no where else to go than the way they are.
Now when I turn the steering wheel left or right it "boings".. it makes a noise which feels and sounds very much like a thud and a boing together. I can picture rubber in the spring/strut assembly shifting but I don't know how. That happens about 3 times in each direction on the steering wheel. It only comes from the passenger side (the side we worked on).
With the car off the ground this does not happen. As soon as we lowered the car off the jacks and turned it "boing, boing, boing" a few seconds apart.
Any ideas what this is? The inner/outer tierods were done also. I'd like to avoid removing the strut and re-doing it. But I will if I half to.
PS I used the strut mount from a taurus, which appeared to be in better condition than my mount, but otherwise identical.
