So, I just picked up a 2016 SHO last week that has the Performance Package on it. First thing I noticed right off is that the tires are Pirelli P Zero's. That surprised me because I've only ever seen/heard people talking about either Goodyear F1's or Michelin's coming on the P.P. SHO's. Is this some new switch Ford just recently made?
Now the bigger question - Obviously, the P Zero's are still summer tires, and I'm going to need to get some winter or all-season tires on there before winter. Let's just say I have a very good outlet to get the Police Interceptor steel wheels and tires IF they will fit. I know the standard SHO brakes work just fine with the Police Interceptor wheels, but does the Performance Package upgrade/upsizing make the brakes too big for the 18" P.I. wheel? It seems some places say only the brake pads themselves are upgraded, but other materials say the rotors are also enlarged. Also, I did put a P.I. wheel on the front already just to see if it would at least get on at all. The only wheel nuts I had were the O.E.M. SHO 20" nuts, and they were too short to screw all the way on and hold the wheel tight. They bottomed out on the lug probably a 1/2" or so prior to contacting the wheel. Is this normal for switching from the 20" flowers to the P.I. wheel? Is there a special wheel nut (other than the standard P.I. wheel nut) that I'll need to purchase due to the Performance Package?
Thanks in advance for any help with this conversion.
