Okay, I finally had some time to do a little detail work on my car since having the tranny put in about a month ago. The guys that worked on the car really didn't pay much attention to what they were doing when putting things back together. I found my air box is now missing a clip, my battery is sitting on some hose and metal tube that looks like it should be mounted under the battery box bracket, (I removed the battery box some time ago). My MAF sensor and meter had cobwebs all in it, yes, I said cobwebs!!! Most of all, the plastic panel that goes from the front air dam to the engine under the car was never put back on.

So is the plastic panel under the front of the car SHO specific or did that come on the SLO versions as well? Does anyone have a good pic of the engine compartment below the battery box, I need to find out the correct routing for the hose/metal tube that I am talking about. Thanks for any info on this.

Ya know, I guess I should have looked more closely at the car when I picked it up, I just thought these guys knew what they were doing. At least the transmission is doing good. For now anyway.

The hose is meant to drain off any acid that may overflow from the battery. It mounts to the bottom of the box and routes out to the drivers side inner wheel well.

The plastic panel is common to all SLOs for your generation.

Thanks for the pic. I don't see the hose I am talking about though. I removed my battery tray some time ago to give me a little wiggle room for the air box and "porterized" inlet tube. I know that underneath the battery tray there is a black bracket that the tray bolts to, there should not be anything on top of the black bracket. The people that installed the transmission in my car obviously routed the hose/metal tube wrong because there is a bracket attached to the metal tube that has a tab with a hole in it that looks like it should be bolted down somewhere.

I need to go to pull-a-part. They had one 1997 SHO in Montgomery. If it is still there, I can get the plastic panel that I need and also see how that hose is supposed to be routed.

The hose I am talking about is kind of a large diameter. It looks like it comes around from behind the transmission as a metal tube, then changes to a rubber hose when it is under the battery. It must not have much pressure to it because there is not a clamp at the transition point.

Thanks for the pic Paul. The hose is a bit larger than that and is going toward the front of the car. The way it is now, it is going along the top of the battery tray bracket, and at the front edge of the bracket, turns down to the front of the car. It is about an inch diameter hose and metal tube. I will try to look at it again this afternoon.
