PICs of Slicers W/225/55/16 ???

I am thinking about getting the wider tires, but I am worried about them bulging. Does anyone have closeup pics of that size tire on their slicers?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

225/55/16 will be ok, this is the most common profile for the sho after the stock 215/60/16 The gap between the fender the tire will increase though. Some aftermarket struts and springs will fix that.

My winters are 225/60/16s on slicers. Lots of sidewall, looks like a Monster truck...

Any pics of 225/55 or 225/50?
I just seemed to me that they would bulge.
Jeff

If you are worried about bulge, pay atttention to the brand of tire you buy. With three SHOs and a mustang that uses 225/55-16s, I have tried a few different brands of the same size tire. There can be quite a bit of difference in the section width even though the size is 225/55-16. Here's what I can recall, all on slicers (except the Dunlop SP5000, on the mustang, back to back comparison with the Bridgestone RE730):

Michelin pilots in 215/60-16 = wide, as wide as other brand 225s
Bridgestone RE730, 225/55-16 = average
Bridgestone RE750, 225/55-16 = average
Dunlop SP5000 (IIRC), 225/55-16 = narrow
Bridgestone RE940, 225/55-16 = slightly wider than average
Bridgestone RE950, 225/55-16 = slightly wider than average
Goodyear F1-D3, 225/55-16 = very wide, first 225 to rub on the back of my '89

You can get an idea of how much budge you'll have before mounting by getting the tire and putting a ruler across the inside of the tire and measuring the distance from bead to bead. Move the tire sidewalls to get to 6" (wheel width), that's how it will look.

The Bridgestone RE940, 225/55-16 looks good IMO, but they are only H rated, at least the ones on our ATX.

Man don't waste your time on 60's. Go with the 225/55s or 225/50s. The 55s will keep your speedo basically dead-on and they look/perform much better (laterally). I've never had a problem with them on any of my SHO's.

Jeff, I had 225/50's on my slicers and on those wheels you got from Beth. They did bulge a little on the slicers but IMO, looked and handled better than the factory size. On the American Racing wheels they fit perfect.

Kinda hard to tell since they weren't on the car, but I threw a set of 225/60's on my slicers when I sold them. Like DDakRT said, they look like a Monster truck tire on the SHO.

Jeff, I'v got 225/55/16 on slicers here with Pirelli P600SV. They are my stockers sitting in the trailer. Come on over & put one on so you can see it on your car if you want. Call me.
