I installed these today and found that the inner pads didn't fit into the piston. It seems as if the 3 prongs were quite smaller then the piston diameter.

I am pretty sure I got the right pads (part number 4214) from AutoZone.

Anyone else encounter this problem?

TIA,

There were two different piston sizes: one for the regular Taurus that had a composite piston and the smaller inside diameter and one for the SHO that had a steel piston and the larger diameter. You need the 4214S PFCM pads. They looked up the incorrect pads for your car.

Ahhhh, that sneaky little S, I had missed that as well. Looks like I will be going back to AZ tomorrow.

Thank you for the explanation.
