My Woman's 94 developed an oil leak. Its dripping down on the front cat on the right side. I cant see where its coming from (cause its soaked) but looks like below the water pump. Any clues to what it might be and the fix?

Thanks!

Typically, oil leaking on the Y-pipe is due to either the rear valve cover gasket leaking or the rear cam seal leaking. It could be either of the 3 cam seals or the front main seal as suggested above.

If the rear cam seal is the problem you will soon start to have cam sensor problems too. I suggest getting under the car with some degreaser and start spraying it down so you can pinpoint where its coming from. The valve cover gasket is a lot easier then the cam seals. If you are going to do the cam seals you will want to do the front main, water pump, and crank sensor as well.

Once you get these done it will be years before you need to worry about them again.

and just to add further confusion, it is also possible that a power steering pump leak is the cause - a leak either on the shaft seal, input or output fitting on the ps pump will typically also find its way to the cat.

Bout 3 months ago had same problem. All 3 cam seals leaking on the cat.did 60 k front cam seals tensoners idelers new belts new igniton modual and crank sensor. At the time dident have money for new water pump. Now its setin in pices waitin on water pump lol. Moral of the story replace all the seals crank sensor and water pump and new belts at once. Helps from throwing things in the future and havin to tear it back down to the block

I did the cam and front crank seals, water pump timing belt etc and it still leaks just like it did before. Will do the VC gasket this saturday. Anything else that can leak down the right rear corner? It smokes alot and wifey does not like it.

TIA

Change the valve cover gasket and the only thing left would be a leaky ps pump as stated. .

not necessarily, since it is very difficult to get the rear cam seal changed correctly without pulling the rear valve cover off. I've done it about 10 times, and I still end up having to pull the valve cover to get the rear cam seal installed so it does not leak.

check the rear cam seal carefully to see if it still leaks, while you are changing the valve cover gaskets.
