I have a 90 with a little problem. For some reason the small U-bend hose by the oil cooler leaks. It is a brand new hose along with brand new clamps. The cooling system also has many new parts like a water pump, HD t-stat, all hoses, seals, etc. It seems that there is more pressure down where the U-bend is than there is supposed to be. I can't figure out why it leaks. Please help... Thanks in advance

Just to be sure, it is coolant that's leaking?

Sure its not leaking from somewhere above and draining down? Like with all mystery coolant leaks, borrow a pressure tester from AutoZone and find exactly where the leak is located.

I am positive that the U shaped hose by the oil cooler is leaking from the top of the hose, not the bottom. Is there a way that I could lower the pressure in that hose?

No you can't lower the pressure. It may be leaking at the hose ****** as it leaves the block.

is it leaking at the clamps? are the fittings that then hose seals on pitted or inn bad shape?

Yes, for some reason it doesn't leak all the time. The fittings were as clean as can be when I put the new hose on. I took the car to the track tonight and it didn't leak once... I don't understand these cars sometimes...

I'll check it out tomorrow. My best run tonight was a 14.71 @ 94.96. The fastest I ever ran in my 90' is a 14.66 @ 94.51 last year. My last run was a 95 mph trap speed but my right tire broke loose off the line and got a 14.93. Not bad for just a custom catless y and a dynomax catback I guess...

Of course! I'd like to learn how to do more maintenance on these cars too.
