hello.Constant reading about motor noise has me confused.I have a 95 3.2 110,000 miles.I have this problem of no matter what speed i have the accelerator pedal at when i push itvery slightly, there is a very low more like knocking instead of ticking coming from the top of the motor(sounds like)the more I push the pedal the sound will go away.it will do it at low or high rpms.when i'm cruising, there is no sound.the oil light does not come .It idles very smoothe(no noise)and drives on the highway,or in the city fine. The sho does not overheat.it makes the noise at hot or cold engine temp.(only when I press the pedal) I don't know if the rod bearings have been done or not.If I put in a oil pessure gauge,is this a good determining factor for bearings(if low pressure)I really do not want to tackle the bearing job mysef.Trying to find a sho mechanic in las vegas is a tough job.Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch. stumped. p.s the oil pressure switch cannot be seen from under the car. From top it looks like atotal pain to get to.

The best way to find a noise is by getting a mechanic stethascope. They are less than $10 and will help narrow the noise. You need to find where the noise is from ( valve cover, timing cover, oil pan, etc... ) and then we can help you diagnose.

could be a valve ?

i don't know if 1 would knock , but mine has a valve that taps away .

as far as rod bearings ........u'll be fine . That is not a big job . Nothing to it !
get some tools together ( and a manual if need be ) and dive in balls deep .

there are a couple of things to pay atten. to

1 . do not scratch bearing , they are made of very soft metal

2. match the rod caps ( just do them start to finish 1 @ a time )

3 stage the toruqing

4 . dis-connect the DIS and crank it over a few times to prime the crank

U SHOuld not be intemidated by this job . Its a breeze . I did mine in 4 hours .......Mind u i put them in once, started the car and it made a knocking noise . Took it all apart again for inspection and put it back together .

I did a lower 60k and the timming belt tensioner was not adjusted proprely ( thats was the sound )
