Have shrugged off more than I care to ever recount, without so much as a second thought. Was tough to see him lying there.
Guess there was a reason I was pie-eyed for for 25 years...
After my first surgery leaving the service, Norm and I would go fishing every morning. Break at noon for lunch at Crazy Vins - a ********** - a no-frills kinda joint - buy two beers and get a free burger, a half pound burger. Didn't want to know what ever happened back in the kitchen but man that burger hit the spot.
One time the stripper came up to our table, took Norms' beer, stuck her *** in it and shook the bejesus out of it. Pulled it away, set it down head all over the place. A helluva mess. Norm looked down at the beer and said with a grin I've only seen on him, "What am I supposed to do with that?"
Well, she was kinda skanky...
Man, I've got a thousand stories about him.
Probably the biggest smile I saw was after coming home with the best in class and best in show from the '04 NESHOC picnic held at Freds' work. My now ex-wife of 23 years had just had a tramatic medical event and that show was her first time out. Brian King had detailed the car the day before, and let Kelly and I use his Gen III to get to our hotel for the night.
Stopped in at Norms on the way home and presented him with those plaques. I always referred to the car as his. He was an early member of NESHOC, though never attended any meetings or events. I have volumes of newsletters from the early days. He couldn't believe it. He loved that stupid car.
Wanted to take him out for a rip last week, he'd never been for a burn with the 3.3 and Beths tranny. He who hesitates is lost.
******* life sure gets in the way of living, sometimes...
*EDIT* Thanks fellas.
