Just bought an SHO yesturday. Black 1990 fully loaded, 155K. Paid $1500 for it. Only problems are:

I the previous owner had the car for only 30K miles, and has no idea when the last "60K" tune-up was done. Is there an easy way to tell if it needs the "60K" tune-up?

AC doesn't work. Previous owner repaired twice. I'm not going to try since this will be a winter car. Is there an AC delete kit?

the front plenum on the passenger side looks like it's been rubbing against the hood liner. might this be a bad motor mount?

It has 2700 miles since it's last oil change, and the oil looks like it was put in yesterday. Normal? or did the owner change it and not tell me?

the stock foglights look cosmetic....are they? worth getting a stock replacement or should I go aftermarket? Which aftermarket set fits nicely in the stock location?

Driver lumber and bolster motor is bad. the longer you don't use it, the longer it works, but even left over-nite it can't move the bolsters in all the way. Is ford the only place to get the motor besides a junk yard? Also, would a motor from a Thunderbird SC seat work?

I found a plastic bag in between the front passenger fender and fenderwell guard (big plastic held n with push rivets). Might this be an elusive build sheet?

what trasmission do I have?
MTX-75?
MTX III?
MTX IV?

It was orignally a California car, is it different in any way from non-cali cars?

It needs tires (for winter) can anyone make any suggestions?

I don't like the front plate mount. If I take it off, will I see "SHO" on the bumper? (this is in reference to the thunderbird "SC" bumper, I'm hoping it might be the same)

Where can I get some reflective fill-ins for the side, back (and front?) letters?

TIA,
Matt

No

Hacksaw

Yes, it might. A more definitive test is to rock the car back and forth with the hood open. Watch the engine, good mounts allow less than 1/2 inch motor travel.

Maybe its using or leaking oil and gets a fresh quart frequently? My 200K engine's oil stays relatively clean if I do all highway driving.

The bag contains sound deadening insulation.

MTX-IV

It automatically has an EGR system.

Only ones NOT to use: BFG Touring T/As. The PO put them on my 89 and it's like ice skating every time it rains. Blizzaks have about the best winter tire reputation of any around.

No S H O lettering on the front spoiler.........the fog lights on a Taurus nose says it all! The license plate bracket may say S H O under the plate...look!

And,

You will have to do your own fill-lettering I believe.......mfr: Marsh has a reflective-type permanent ink....you should check and see if they still do.

Thanks guys, that clears alot up. I still don't know about these though:

the seat motors from a thunderbird should work, some years actually used the same seats. and i'm not sure about the fog lights but they sure as **** don't do anything in the stock position. shonut i think sells a conversion kit to some functioning fogs

don't know, the t-bird version of the seats may be modified but from the outside, they look the same. i would assume that some of the comon parts are interchangable.
