Shortly after getting new springs/struts, my front strut mounts started squeeking. One was replaced but now the other one is making noise. Is there anything that can be done to silence it (WD-40?)? Other than the annoying noise, am I damaging anything if I don't replace the noisy one?

I wish I had known they should have been replaced when the springs/struts were but hindsight is always 20/20.

Thanks!

Strut mounts do not have any moving parts. What type of noise is it making? If it is a grinding, gritty bearing sound it will take a cleaning and regreasing or replacement of the strut bearings. If it is a rubbing, groaning sound it may take a bit of silicone grease between the outer edge of the upper spring pad and the inside of the strut tower.

If it is a high pitched squeaking sound, it may be the outer tie rod ends. The OEMs are sealed, but can be lubricated by using a nail to puncture the rubber boot and then injecting grease with a syringe. You can also replace the rod end and be prepared for a reset of the toe-in portion of the alignment.

The insulater is rubbing inside of the strut tower.Install spacer plates (The part # for spacer plate is F3DZ-18A027-A) on top of the strut's and the rubbing noise will go away.
