beat a 97 Z28 that was having bad slippage shifting out of 1st - never found out what happened but he lost by about 4 or 5 car lengths.

lost to my friends 00 Monte Carlo SS 3 (getting 10.2's all night) times, all by less than a car length
lost to a friends 95 mustang GT w/underdrive pulleys/exhaust/intake and a few other things.

Just posted this to the V8 Mailing list about 1/2 an hour ago. Do yourself a favour and throw the cone filter in the garbage. It's only hurting you times. Get yourself a tuner from Doug Lewis and your times will drop.

Similar 60' times but look at the 1/8th. Lapeer had a slower 1/8th ET
but a much higher trap. I've always suspected Lapeer's 1/8th trap
speeds.

For comparison here's my fastest run from the convention:

I'm not sure but the temperature of the first two runs was in the high
80's or low 90's. I made a point of getting out two quick runs right
off the bat. The clouds were blocking the sun and the temperature was
not crazy hot like the rest of the day.

The temperatures when I ran at Luskville were from 59-63 degrees. I
didn't write down the temperature on my Lapeer slip since I was
pre-occupied with a leaking brake line (pretty scary) but I think they
were similar.

Intake/engine temperatures have a big impact on the times too. When I
ran at Luskville earlier this year I made a couple of quick passes
after arriving, both were 15.2's. I let the car cool off for 42
minutes and ran a 14.859 followed by a 14.899 shortly after. I let
the car cool off for 59 minutes between my last two runs and the ET
dropped from 15.050 to 14.873.

If you're disappointed with your ETs you may want to avoid hot days
(the colder the better) and you may want to give the car plenty of
cooling off between runs. I think the next time we go to Lapeer I may
rent a car for the day to play with while I'm waiting for the SHO to
cool off.

Lol, that is the only time you will ever beat a '97 Z28, they are low-mid 9s when not broken. How are you launching it? It looks like your 60' can come down a little bit.

Which would equate to a .871 with a normal timing system. At the convention strip, a perfect light is a .000. A red light is -.***.

It really doesn't matter how you launch these cars. Especially in the summer time. Off idle, 1000 rpm, 2000 rpm, it doesn't seem to make much difference. I usually brake torque it so it's just off idle. Maybe 1000-1200 rpm. I used to brake torque more than that but had problems with a pump drive shaft at the 2002 convention that thankfully got fixed cheaply at FPS while I was there for a cam weld.

And at the convention 2.4 was a decent 60' time. I've got a slip right in front of me from the eliminations and both MTX cars had 2.5 second 60 foots.

Hmm, I dont know. Traction Never seems to be a problem in the 96, but that may be attributed to the Nitto's and the Heavy 17'' wheels. But since I've never taken it to the drag strip I have no idea what it would do the the 60', however in the 92 I was able to pull off a 2.31 60' on my used front tires with a broke front motor mount, I was pretty proud of that ...Even tho its nothing to really gloat about

You should take it to the track. It seems that the V8 cars that readily spin the tires are the slow cars. The cars that don't spin are the fast ones. Even with a 50 profile tire (225/50/16) mine will barely spin the tires.

I was disappointed with my SHO not even hardly being able to spin the tires! All I get is a little pathetic chirp! haha, but if that is what determines if its fast or not, shit! im happy! my 10.2 in the 8th on a hot florida day is all i could get tho!.

i got 215/60/16 right now on my car (slicers on it)
they chirp a little bit and will squeel on some road surfaces but that is about it
