Hi Folks,

I don't own a SHO... yet! But I've lined up one to buy. I will be picking it up in 2 weeks. It's a '95 White SHO 3.2 Auto with 91k original. It's been wrecked and I plan on parting it out. I'm going to use the motor with a Ranger 3.0 manual or an Aerostar bellhousing with a T5 in a 1969 Triumph TR6.

Here is my goal. I would like to set the motor up for 300hp NA before I put it in. There is plunty of room under the hood for a small block so the SHO motor should fit fine. What formula do you folks have for 300hp NA? Remember the motor will not need emissions equipment. I plan on using a Tweccr unit and I don't mind taking it above 7k if nessacary for the HP. I plan on using 4.10 gears with 26" tall tires. The car will end up weighing somewhere around 2200lbs. Thanks for your help.

Are you talking 300 crank or wheel hp?

300 Crank hp = 3.2 w/ ported heads, big cams and full intake/exhaust.

I've been told that the Ranger 5 speed will not mate to the SHO engine - the Aerostar bh/T-5 is known to work.

A TR6 w/ a SHO motor would be a kick to drive!

The 3.0 Ranger motor was a vulcan block. The patterns should be the same with the SHO motor which was based on the vulcan block. I believe that I've talked to someone that has done it hear in Oregon. I will verify but I don't see any issue. The ranger also used a hydrolic clutch. Didn't the SHO use a Hydrolic as well?

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks for that link. I stumbled across it once and never found it again. It dosn't tell what trans he used.

NWV I'll be up in your neck of the woods next week. Family is going camping on Orcus Island. We do it every year. This may be the last. Looks like we're going to have to pay 250+ to get the RV on the ferry.

Howdy Gearjamer. The the ferry costs on this side of the line are costly too. I bet lunch on the ferry will cost you another $250.
Camping on Orcas sounds fun. I love the San Juan Islands. We try to sail down that way atleast one ayear. Bring a boat and some prawn/crabbing gear and go at her!:thumb:

One of the Triumphs, (TR7/TR6?) I believe used a Ranger bell housing, a Kennedy Engineering adapter plate, http://www.kennedyeng.com/ , and a T5.

Wrong , when Ford sent the Vulcan to Yamaha , they threw it in the garbage.

You need a manual Aerostar bellhousing. And its NOT hydrolic. As for 300 CHP look in my mods in my signature , this should help you out achieving it.

Actually Lupo here on the forum has a SHO Ranger. He uses a Ranger Transmission. He has a Tilton clutch pack with a customer flywheel that is half the weight of the current clutch/flywheel setup. You might want to talk to him.

The SHO and Vulcan do share the same bolt pattern. The only thing the Vulcan and SHO share is the bolt pattern and the basic dimensions for making a 3.0.

We have a few mods here: SHO Source

Got my parts car today. A 1995 white SHO ATX with tan leather. The car is suppost to be a limited edition. VIN 1FALP54PXSA195802. It has power on both front seats. The high end audio with cd, tape, 2 amps in the trunk, and a built in sub. Paid 700. Most of this stuff will be going up for sale. I want the engine and related stuff for my 1969 TR6. The passenger front end is trashed. Looks like it hit a Truck. But the car is drivable. The engine felt strong and the trans shifted nice. It will spin both front tires. I'll put up pic's later. Now to find a trans.

Keep us updated as your project moves along. I always loved the TR cars with engine transplants. Sounds like alot of fun when it's done.
