Been a lurker for awhile, but felt that since I didn't own a SHO, it wasn't just for me to post. Now that that little problem is solved, I feel it is my duty to introduce myself, and see who the locals are on this forum.

First off, my name is Jacen and I live in southeast MI, Dearborn Heights to be specific. This will be my 5th car (but only the 3rd that is running/driveable) and first daily driver with a manual (though I am fully capable of driving a 5spd). Normally, I would look to mod it, but I have a history of getting unlucky with the law, and I have a severe leadfoot, plus this car is fast enough as is. I am, however, looking to make the car all one color (so I need to get a few parts to de-Christmas-ify my new SHO), and get her in solid running shape, although, mechanically, she is. This will be my first car in two years, as financial and legal issues have prevented me from acquiring a new car or reacquiring my license.

Secondly, I am mechanically able to do certain things, so I feel that any help I would be asking is simply going to be a "I've done this on other cars, since I don't wanna ruin this one, what's the difference between this and that?" type need. Thanks guys, I look forward to meeting everyone and becoming a part of this community, I hear you guys are much better than my old Owner's Club, MIPOC, a Probe Owner's Club (although once you weed your way through the wiggers, ricers, and retards, MIPOC's not so bad, they just never meet).

Thanks guys!

have fun with your lead foot, however, keep burnouts to a minimum unless you like replacing transmissions.

Give Bizzy a buzz....she's close to you. have her build you a tranny that'll survive burnouts....or buy a Quaife.

Anyone, get her one solid color (preferably red, cuz red cars are the shit) and get her maintenence up to date, and you'll have yourself a fun lil ride.

this thing is gonna take a little getting used to, she barks 1 and 2 if I don't control her, and that's on brand new tires.

Bring that puppy over to my house in Allen Park and I'll give it a complimentary "looking over".
PM me if interested.

Have fun with the sho's. Sometimes you love to hate them. Wouldn't trade her for anything. (Maybe a first gen)

my only beef with the car right now is the taillights, Ive been told they don't light up brighter when I brake, but they do light up period. Also, my parking brake is non-existent.

Probably the BOO (brake on/off) switch on the brake pedal itself. Look for a small black thing attached to the pedal and make sure the wires are attached.

Oh, and welcome

Go away. I hate you.

:laugh_ti: JUST KIDDING!

Hi! and welcome to the forum. the Parking brake is a well known problem on the SHOs. See if you can lift up on the pedal and tighten it (or is that clutch cables? crap, I forget). Also, check out the 89 SHO Engine book at www.alfitz.com. I can plug it; I uploaded it! give it a good look over and learn yourself good about the engine.

Also, the BOO switch can fail internally. You may need a new one. I'd love to help more, but I gotta go to bed... :(

the parking brake was cited by the ex-owner as being "so rusted its beyond even moving". he didnt say what part was rusted, or give any further details, so I'm assuming he meant the cables. If anyone here knows how to replace said assembly, tell me, as soon as I can, I'll be willing to pay.

Welcome......I remember the probe board....haven't been on there in a good year or so, used to own a 89 MX-6 GT.... never went to any of the MIPOC meets...kinda wish I would of though. still have a buddy that is into 2nd gens...to bad for him my tempo is still faster, lol.

good luck on owning a SHO....you will need it.....unless your like me and don't spend more then 500 on any one car...(in the 3 SHO's i have owned, spent less then 800 bucks buying them)
