Good Morning, I recently purchased a 2013 SHO out of Dallas for $8800. It currently has 96k miles on it. Two owner car with carfax showing all the scheduled and suggested maintenances completed. It had a Roush intake already installed as well as a DIY exhaust. I say DIY because it looks like the last mufflers had been cut out and replaced with straight pipe. I know this is a good platform for a car but I don't know much about the platform. I'm here to learn about it and learn what mods are best.

Here's what i know about your car already. You need to do all maintenance asap. Change the waterpump, all the driveline and engine fluids, etc. Roush intake and funky homemade exhaust....oh boy. Think about an extended Ford warranty (through internet discount sellers) while you are pre100k miles.

Changing gears, Good to have you aboard!

I agree with you about the maintenance and fluids. When I drain fluids, I'll use what I see to consider warranties.

You can't knee **** mods meaning it was not well taken care of. If that was the rule of thumb then all of you would be suspect.

Local ford dealer (I'm a dealer so they "shot me straight" apparently) told me the 36/36 warranty for my car would be $3k.. Thoughts?

What shodded said re: warranties. I used those online OEM Ford discounted sellers quotes to get my local guys down and they laughed at me and said that was less then their cost and couldn't get close. Maybe you got a really good quote but I would shop it around. I am cheap, so I would roll the dice on the fancy electronic stuff (things like nav are inferior to waze and google maps anyway) and protect my powertrain with the longest warranty at the best price. I assume you have or will read around and look at the weak points in this platform.

Is your car performance package or non PP? PP cars have extra cooling at the PTU and that can certainly help. The driveline components have what are considered lifetime fluids that are not nearly capable of doing that. Therefore they would not usually be listed on the normal routine maintenance but they need to be done.

Best mods for boosted engines? A good tune.

I actually got my window sticker and I think I do have the PP. see Attached.
Also, I'm confused about that lombardwarranty site. Where would I take my car if I had a problem? Are the national? They are showing a 36/36 warranty for powertrain for $1028. I'll do that if I don't have to jump through hoops or travel to Wisconsin or something for the repair.

Once you get all the paperwork and payment sent and everything kicks in... it is a national Ford warranty product. You can take it to any Ford/ Lincoln dealer service department and they will take it. Just as if you got it from your local dealer and took it to another dealer service department for warranty work. Always get the MFG. warranty if you can. Some of those aftermarket warranty products can go belly up, sometimes they work. Some risk.

I would also send out quote requests to the other ones on Shodded's post and compile a few more quotes. Compare them apples to apples-- sometimes the powertrain is a little shorter or longer vs the price of them all. The procedure is basically the same for all of them, and they have all been favorites in the Ford community for a long time. Figure out the average amount of miles per year and get the longest one you can financially justify that is available.

For cars out of warranty-- usually there is a dealer service warranty inspection that the car must pass before eligibility. Don't let that bother you. It is standard warranty CYA-- even at the local dealer where you got your initial quote.

well, I got a warranty through Ford ESP. Good thing too because I changed my PTU oil today and that's the worst state of oil I've ever seen. Smelled deeply of burnt oil, it was very metallic and grey. PTU looks to be leaking as well. AND there was oil on my turbos.

Warranty was approved, who would have guessed that they would take my money.
How long would you wait before taking it in for the leaking PTU and such?

I had a chance to run a baseline and got a 13.626sec 1/4mi @ 3639DA. I feel like that's a pretty great starting point.
