Hello all. Just wanted to say Hello.

I have been tuning and wrenching on GM products since the late 1980's and just recently closed down my performance shop out here in Colorado Springs. Too crappy of an economy and too specialized I guess. A blessing in disguise if you ask me lately! :)

Anyway I have never owned a FORD in my life, but had a ride in an SHO many years ago (probably before some of you were born). I really enjoyed the car and how it ran/handled. I recently came across a 1989 for a VERY good price and plan to have some fun with it for a while.

Seems that although there are no maintenance records on the car, it was very well paid for. I have been reading about maintenance on the Yama-bomber motor and will be doing a 120k overhaul on her here soon.

Anyways...very nice forum guys! I look forward to talking with some of you soon!

Welcome to the forum!

Don't let the intake manifold scare you, it's actually quite easy to work on and maintain. They are a blast to drive with a few suspension mods, and they also take VERY VERY well to nitrous and boost if your looking to put some car lengths between you and your average mustang. There are plenty of bolt-on's, however, do not expect to have a 300chp SHO with just a few bolt ons. It will take everything that is out there, an engine swap and a decent tuner to get you there, all of which are fairly pricey. But having a 100hp/L N/A engine is nothing to sneeze at. Just don't expect it to have the torque of a 350chevy. These engines LOVE to rev, and that's how they were built.

Maintain her and she'll love you long time! :nut:

Don't be afraid to ask a question, but also don't be afraid of the search button. It'll will help your research go much smoother. :thumb:

Again, Welcome!

You're in a great state for SHO's. There are some very knowledgeable SHO guys in Denver and C-Springs (about 5 boosted SHO's in the bunch currently). There is a mailing list for the Colorado SHO Club on Yahoo (I believe).
