Hey everybody! I just bought my first SHO. It's a 1995 Silver ATX with only 106,000 miles but it needs a lot of work. I'm pretty sure it needs a valve adjustment, which I have no idea how to do, and I was wondering if there was any place in the Hampton Roads area that knows how to do it or has the tools to do it.

I'd be glad to help ya but I just gotta find time to do it. And my tools. I know where my V-8 stuff is but I have find the V-6 ones. I was fortunate enough to never need my V-6 ones adjusted. Are you sure sure they need adjusting? I've heard mixed emotions about this too. I'm sure others will chime in. Welcome aboard by the way. You have picked a great color bro!

Curiosity...how do you know it needs a valve adjustment? Just because of 100k?

Mine old SHO's had north of 150k and ran like champs.

Well, I guess I really don't know if it needs it or not. I'm just pretty positive they have never been adjusted and there is a small tick to the engine. I've never really heard a solid lifter DOHC engine run, so I guess that could be normal. It also hadn't been run in a long time.

What part of VA are you in? I'm in Richmond and would be happy to listen to your engine and help do some wrenchin whenever necessary :thumb:

I live near Newport News, but my sho actually spent most of its life in Richmond judging from the paperwork I've got. I'm just gonna run it like it is for a little bit & see how it sounds after I've cleaned out all the old gas and everything. If I need some help I'll definitely let you know!

That would be nuts if it was one of the three SHOs which used to live just a few houses down the street for the past 10 years or so.
