New SHO Owner

Hi guys! Just bought a 2012 SHO last week with about 68,000 miles on it and loved it as soon as I test drove it. Total sleeper, and I know there’s so much more potential. I live close to Boston so having the power and AWD without the German car expense to maintain and repair is great! I do have one concerning issue though: heat at idle is cool/lukewarm but as soon as I rev it a touch or when I’m driving, it is very hot, as it should be. Coolant level is perfect, and the engine seems to come up to temp normally and does not overheat. Just wondering you guy’s thoughts. I’ve literally been reading posts on this forum the entire last week, and it seems like a great group of people on here, glad to be in. Thanks!!

Could be your blend door actuator.

Welcome to the group!

I'd start with the easy, and make sure it's burped fully. Overfill coolant by one inch, leave the cap off and get car to operating temp. Bring RPMs up to 3000 and hold for 30 seconds, then return to idle and check fluid level. Repeat until there is no variance.

Unfortunately I have found that the heat issue is due to the water pump failing. It is leaking from the tell tale hole behind the water pump. Just hoping that the dealer covers it! Huge job apparently. And not any good pics yet because it’s been in my garage the whole time. I will upload some once it’s registered. I linked below some pics of my findings.
