So ever since I heard about these I was salivating over it. I'm what you might call an automotive enthusiast and also suffer from an incurable disease, it's called Automotive ADD, you may have heard of it?

So last year I picked up a new VW CC VR6 Sport and very much enjoyed that car, then I drove my new SHO, well I didn't realize it was mine until I drove it and then there was no way it wasn't coming home with me. Got a great deal since I get A plan plus rebates and no dealer fees (for the math challenged that's about $7k off). So with such a great deal I brought it home.

We drove to Orlando yesterday with the family and everyone loved it. The 3D weather came in handy, Nav was great but more importantly my wife found the heated seat and massage feature, at that point I really didn't care about getting to Orlando in any sort of hurry :naughty:

So far lots of fun, feels a good bit quicker then my VR6 and has lots more toys. The SHO is quite a bit bigger too, even though it drives small which is nice. Crazy how big the car is though, it only sits an inch or two lower in overall height than my Edge

Been poking around looking forward to meeting some folks around here... Oh the car is Black on Black, I can post pics but if you want to see it just poke your head into your garage, looks just like that one you have

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your new SHO. Same thing happened to me. I was at the dealer picking up some parts and stopped to talk to my buddy, he's a salesman. I mentioned the new SHO and he said, want to drive one? Well, it was all over... one was sitting in my garage a few days later. They are pretty huge. I didn't realize how much so until I pulled it into my garage. I'm 6' and I need a stool to reach the center of the roof. I really love the car too. Good luck with it.

i like those passat CC's, but for the price of the CC VR6 and Acura TL-SHAWD, I think the SHO delivers pretty good value.

Congrats on your purchase! I'm a bit time fan of the CC and the former Phaeton and would like to know your initial quality comparison between the two? I think feature wise they're nearly equal right?

Well to go apples to apples a fully loaded CC with 4Motion/Nav will run you about $43k, same price as the SHO. My car was a VR6 FWD so it was $39K no Nav.

As for features they were close, there are few things they don't get stateside on the CC which ****** a lot of VW owners off, like adaptive cruise, Euro only, also the Euro version gets more HP and the DSG as well, again ******* off the VW US folks. The Europeans also get a Passat R over there 300HP AWD/DSG, which is light and quick.

But if you want kind of a comparo they are both really nice cars
The CC:
Dynaudio sound system (on par with the Sony, edge to the Sony)
Autohold - holds the brake for you at stop lights/hills so it won't roll on you, neat but really useless
Rear window screen (kinda neat, help keep the car cool)
Two Tone leather with great support (No massager's though, edge to the SHO)
Glass Roof (didn't slide, just tilt)
Power seats (both) and heated
Seats only 4 - there is a center console in the 3rd seat spot for storage/cup holders
Good size trunk
"Foe" push start - annoying you had to push the key in the slot and push to start, could have been done better.

Overall fit and finish, it's German so it's very well made, drove well, good power, ok brakes and unique looks. The 4MO got better brakes though.

The SHO:
Nav - Love it, better then the RNS system in the VW, the split screen and all the controls are heads & tails better then the VW
Sync/Blutooth - We all know that rules, there bluetooth is expensive and not very good with very little control.
iPod - The Sync system is awesome, the VW iPod control is a joke, just displays track 1-99 that's it you have to buy aftermarket and add on.
Seats - A/C and Heat with Massage, need I say more about that feature :naughty:
Real push to start - love it!
Keyless entry - again love it!
Huge Trunk - comparison - my golf bag sits at a 45 in the CC trunk and fits all the way across no problem, I could probably stack 4 in there no problem
5th seat - I have a family and occasionally vistors, while I have the Edge it's not a biggie but if were out sometimes someone would want to go with us and they couldn't if we were in the car (not always a bad thing) but annoying sometimes (I have 2 kids)
Power - Ummm yeah.... hands down SHO wins
Sliding Sun Roof - didn't realize how much I missed that till it was gone

Overall for me I felt the SHO was an absolute upgrade and the for the price if you went apples to apples (awd to awd) the price is exactly the same and the SHO has more options, better technology package and 100 more HP. It's a no brainer.

I also have to throw some props out to Ford as well, since I'm a long time Ford customer there quality of materials and interiors have been mostly lackluster but the recent output has been nothing short of fantastic and the quality and materials has improved 100%. I have been very very impressed with my Ford Edge and the interior is great. The SHO interior is every bit as good and in some cases better then the VW (those seats rule). If any domestic car company is making a run against the Germans for quality, looks, performance and I have to say even "soul", Ford is doing it. I get a big a$$ grin on my face everytime I hit the "start" button on my SHO and I can't wait to get back in and drive it again!

Sorry for the dissertation just figured I'd throw some stuff out there.

I just bought mine a month ago. I wanted a fast American made car that could fit my family of 5. There really weren't a lot of choices out there but the SHO.

I'm in Orlando right by UCF.

I've had the SHO addiction since 2000....wife said I would have to sell the GT and my other sho's if I wanted a new one. That was until she drove it...and decided it was going to be her next car since our lease on an 07FX4 was up. Funny how things work out :)

Where ya from djs? I'm from Blasdell. I got my SHO from Hamburg West-Herr. I know what ya mean, I had absolutely no intention of buying a new vehicle... until I drove the SHO.

X2. I'm originally from Derby , but living in Dearborn right now. I visit my family in Derby all of the time though so maybe I'll see ya around. I also used to work at West-Herr and have a lot of friends that work in the Hamburg collision shop if you ever need work done or even a good detail.

Live out in Lancaster...Car was bought through west-herr on dealer trade from VanBortel in rochester. I used to work at the hamburg store...and unless you know something I don't typhoon, that body shop has messed up so much work for me I refuse to take in my mustang under warranty to fix paint blemishes because they will just make it worse. They aren't fit to paint model cars let alone a 40k ride....

Not to hijack the thread....

I'm sorry djs, but I've got to rebuke. I've had work done there and found it to be impeccable. I went over the car with a fine tooth comb and was truly impressed. I've been dealing with West-Herr for over 20 years, bought 7 vehicles from them and have always been happy with them. I'm obviously not privy to your issues, but I'm one satisfied customer.

I apologize for going off on a tangent.
