Well Maybe the way it should have been!

As you all know from the other thread I was wanting to paint the seriously WORNG chrome grill and side vents, I asked for a few to Photo chop it up and make a few different colors (thanks to those people, SHO CONT esp), But I was still unsure as this will be permanant. As soon as Mark N said it looked like a Nissan I was presuaded to go body color like my original thoughts from seeing the car in Dearborn in early Feburary. Then I had Ryan Pasch from Bring back the SHO.com shoot me over some of the work he and Arron had been working on in the past, and there is was exactly as I pictured in my head since day one.. Thanks Ryan for the clinching VOTE...

Here is the finshed result, with BBTS on the left and NESHO on the right.

I think that it came out fantastic!!

I also could not stand the Chrome Side Vents!!

Now on to why I asked for this photo.

Everyone can clearly see (thanks Mike!) that the holes in the new grille do nothing as there is a solid panel behind it, and it blocks air for cooling this Hot Car (pun intended) Well Not any more...Lets cut out the Blocker!

Now you can see through the vents!

Is it just your photos or is the grill a different hue of red??? Looks good but in some photos the red on the grill seems to stand out more than the rest.

Excellent job Kirk! Can't say enough about it. You should send that to Ford.

Dont forget where I live! Its just about dark here at 330 now.. Inside there is florescent lights with red and blue bulbs above, and some of the outside pics used a flash.. which will f things up too.. People that know me, know if it didnt match it would be ripped off and already down to Ronnies and I would be calling Dupont and waking someone up! lol

For matching the paint its one of the BEST jobs I have seen with all the pearl and metalic in this paint.. in normal outside light you can not tell any difference.

PS. 104.00 for the paint (pt) and 100.00 for reducer (pt), I just about took a James right there when then gave me the price of the paint!

I wonder how much the White Platinum costs? Tuxedo Black might be a bit more than normal, I understand it's got crushed glass instead of metal flake.

From the factory.

Red was 300 more
white was 600 more

Not sure Tux Black should be Solid Black.. I think..

I think the White Platinum Tricoat was a $500 option. I wanted to get that color, but not with a black interior. Tuxedo Black didn't have an extra charge. I'll check with the place my buddy gets his Dupont from on the cost of Tuxedo Black. In bright sunlight, the flakes have a rainbow look, the glass flakes have a prism-like effect.

Nice job. It looks great, especially the painted side vents with the Taurus highlighted in black. Notice any difference in running temps yet with that cooling mod? j/k, probably not enough to do much, but it might.

The new SHO should have come without any chrome, like the first 2 gens and left all of the chrome for the Limited models IMO. It gives it a much more distinctive look over the SLO, but uses the same parts so cost isn't high. You listening Ford?

Next should be to color match the trunk chrome piece, tail lamp surround chrome trim and black out those LED accent lights.

Damn it Kirk!! Now I have to yank out my tore apart Gen 3 in my back garage to work on the Gen 4. That looks hot! On a silver car though I may end up keeping the chrome surround but hitting the center section black. Trying to help it match the bottom fascia is my goal. 2 questions for ya:
1.) Did you use a flat black on the grill section?
2.) Was the side feder vents easy to remove?
