Hi I just joined this club after buying a 2013 pp, and I'm in love !!
I've had a 91 and and 94 MTX in the past and have always loved the cars. I had a Lincoln ls for tenyears and I'm so happy to be back in the SHO I'm new to the whole tuning thing but understand quite a bit can be done to mod these cars. Any suggestions for a first timer? The car I bought has a cold air intake(air grabber) d but I'm unsure of what or anything else has been done to it. I am having pretty crappy gas mileage, how many kms per tank in the city is average for you folks? Thanks for having this forum to talk about these amazing cars, have always loved reading past posts. Appreciate the feedback.
Thanks,
Kris

I am only averaging about 18 mpg in my daily commute driving. But I do tend to step on it a lot and drive 80 on the tollway.

20mpg here converted over is 32.1kms ive got basic bolt ons 3 bar, colder thermostat cat-less down pipes custom exhaust I do prefer SCT tuner or HP so you can get a NON off the self tune for YOUR car from a top tuner Torrie from Unleashed ,Brad from AJP Casey from BrewCityBoost there are are some good ones that I may be missing but these cars love a good tuner. Hope that helps

Take it on a flat road where you can do 60-70 mph steady for a mile or two, hit the reset on your mpg indicator and see what it says after driving like that for a few minutes. If you aren't at 25-30 mpg there is probably a problem. Any amount of stop and go driving or idling will quickly reduce your mileage. I've averaged 22.8 mpg over 56,000 miles, but a great deal of my miles are on the highway going at a constant speed.

As far as tuning goes, definitely get it tuned. It's a whole different car. I've tried unleashed and Livernois, I prefer the Livernois tune.

Put in some new plugs, SP534's or better. If you have enough mileage (or NOT enough) on your SHO, can help. A tune will definitely help mpg, assuming same driving style before/after.

New plug's SP534 are a good idea.. you want a layed out build Livernois is the way to go and many choose them but if you deside to change and do things you want to do things the way you want to your car is when things start becoming a problem. For example custom exhaust they dont want to work with it.. meth kits they dont sell. Once you buy a tuner from Livernois you have it for life for them and only them. The tuners that are used by SCT and HP tune for multiple application and open to any tuner just my experience at my dime!!

I've noticed I get better with my Livernois tune than untuned but some of that could be post break in as I tuned it at about 1K miles. Before tune was 18 after is about 20. I always drive it like I stole it...
