Hi Everyone!

Excited to be here and learn a ton about these cars, maybe help someone along the way as well.
I've been out and about looking for a PP 2013 or new SHO for a while now.
A pretty good deal popped up in Michigan so I flew out and grabbed it.
2013, white, PP, high mileage, one owner, looks to be garaged.
I picked the car up and it looked damn near new! I was way more excited than I thought i would be.
Coming from a slew of SVT focus's throughout my years, I wanted something with some oomph and needed the 4 doors for the kids.

So yeah, that's my story. I'll be driving my king ranch primarily in the winter but wanted this for airport trips and general fun when I can. It has 90k miles so i've been trolling the forums finding out what i have to do to make this car last and stay strong. It seems to "act funny" when under full throttle. It has definitely urged me to get all the fluids changed as quickly as possible or maybe it's just me not knowing the car. RPM's seem to hang like the car is spinning but then i question how does this thing spin???
All stuff i'll be trolling for answers!

Last bit of good news, I had to pick the car up in Michigan, so.....WHY NOT stop at Livernois :)
Those guys were awesome. I ended up going home with an intake, tune, plugs, tstat, MAP, and catted down pipes in the trunk. Can't wait for that install :) The car is already pretty nasty as is.

Anyway, I'm here and hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Welcome, BweegN, sounds like you have started your relationship with the SHO on the right foot :nut: Post tune the car should behave differently/better with the shifting. Changing the fluids definitely is a great starting point, with 90K already on the car.

You may have to soak the OEM attachment bolts in PB Blaster for a few hours before attempting to remove them. They can be pretty solidly rusted in place.

Please do post pics of your rides, past & present, and happy Thanksgiving!

Thank You SHOdded.
I already love the car...I've driven a few non PP ones so I knew what I wanted and did a great deal of searching.
On a good note this car was obviously garaged looking underneath. However, we all know how elements treat steel bolts with cast aluminum parts.
First order of business will be installing drains from what I've seen with Edge owners. My wife has an 08 edge so I should be at least used to some of it. Finding a repair manual is a bit tough....is it safe to assume that the 10 and up Taurus Haynes/Chilton covers our SHO's?
Once I get everything where I want i'll give it a nice oil undercoat to fight the northeast.

Regarding the tune vs. non-tune. I had a 700 mile drive home. I did get a chance to experience both situations. The tune simply increased the notability of the "problem".
I'll get some video when I actually get the car tip top. I do like the way it shifts with the tune though, reminds me of my king ranch at full pressure with its tune. Good stuff!!

Pics coming up!!!

I would get an online subscription to AlldataDIY or Chiltons or mitchell1 etc. for the 2013 Taurus/SHO. That way you stay current on manual, TSBs and recalls pertinent to your SHO. There are some differences between 2010-12 and 2013+ that make it worth subscribing to your particular year.

IDK if anyone has drilled a PTU drain on the SHO yet. Getting to be commonplace on the Edge though, and should be the same directions for the SHO as well.

The solution to transmission "issues" has usually been: tune, fluid change, pressure lowering, tire change. LME encourages a bit of topping for the trans fluid to see if that helps also, about 8 oz over MAX?

Once again I've been on this forum for less than a few hours and you've already helped me major. It hit me on the way home when I got to a straight away and put the pedal to the metal(traction control off)When I hit second gear the car fell directly on its face and would not even recover, almost like a complete stall and then it was like it restarted and slowly started to go again. If I recall on the Carfax I think there is a fuel related TSB for this car and I bet that is my problem. This is turning into a technical thread already but none the less I would like to thank the welcoming committee for helping already!!

You can check for recalls on your SHO at owner.ford.com, and find other resources on that site as well, including service coupons. A fairly comprehensive list of TSBs/recalls is here
http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,3836.0.html

There is a fuel pump recall AND a fuel pump control module recall (separate). IDK if that is the issue, but certainly worth checking. One of the other major recalls is a halfshaft/circlip issue. I do suspect a plug change will help a lot as well. They may be at end of life. Tuned, expect to change plugs much sooner than when stock.

Build info for your SHO can be found at https://www.etis.ford.com, in case you do not have a window sticker to go with.

I found myself living on etis. It was the only sure way to check for performance pack. Most dealer listings were always incorrect :-/
