Leave the resonator, it is not a restriction, and removing will likely increase unwanted noise in the form of 'rasp'.

Welcome to the forum! Check out my classified ad, lots of parts you might like.

Everyone has their own idea of what sounds good on these cars. Most will agree with Toolman though, leave the resonator in. In fact, run as big of a resonator as you can for a better sound.

The factory Y pipe on the MTX cars is a really bad restriction, changing that will help in the power department, and also sound.

Personally, I like the sound of SHOSource's catback with Magnaflow mufflers. There's quite a few exhaust sound clips on Youtube, trying a search on there should be helpful.

We have a good selection of exhaust parts for the SHO here: SHO Source

We do offer our y-pipe which you can get either in catted or catless. We also have our catback which you select your mufflers for the sound you like. We do have sound clips as well. We will have them in stock in the next couple of weeks as they are being made right now.

Rasp the annoying buzzing type sound.

With catles you a little low end but gain on top. Some dont notice the low end loss. Some like the catless version.

it's impossible to make a V6 SHO sound good unless it's silent. screw what it sounds like...convert to a 2.5" single out and go for the power and weight loss.

My SHO's going into the exhaust shop tomorrow. Going to try and pick out some mufflers to throw on it.

SuperHo, whats this single muffler thing you're talknig about? It increases power? Less weight, i get as you have one less muffler/less piping. What are the power gains? How does it sound?

Hey Matt, the sound clips on Sho Source dont work for me. Do you need a plug-in or program to hear them?

Do a 3.2 swap and put a nice y pipe on it. (note- this may not give you the sound difference you are looking for...it's just fun)

Also, Tim...that is a shameless plug up there...shameless.

i'm running a single flowmaster 40 series on my 3.2 MTX, and i'd consider it to be in the top 15 of the best sounding N/A SHOs i've heard. gutted cats on a stock y-pipe and no resonator, the only rasp i hear is when the engine's cold.

any sound/vid clips of the set-up?

Sadly, i have to keep cats due to bi-yearly emissions testing.
