My car had developed this awful knock like a main bearing or something. It turned out to be timing belt slap. So, I took all the covers and things off and found that the tensioner wheel was grinding against the rocker arm part (ATX 3.2 model). I think that the mechanic who changed the belt didn't tighten the tensioner in place and it slipped and started grinding. Anyway...

I need to get a new tensioner. The dealership can't seem to get it right, between the 3.0 and 3.2 I really need the rockerarm part (bellcrank, whatever you want to call it) and the wheel/bearing (it has an off center hole, basically an idler). If anyone knows where to get this part or has the right part number for it that would help very much.
Thanks,
Jackson

I have them on the shelf, I'll check the p/n tomorrow night when I head to the shop. I just recently got them in (this month) so they should be still readily available. If you go into the parts counter, you can see the exploded assembly for the timing components, and point the part you need out to them. NEVER depend on over-the-phone parts ordering from your dealer parts counter, unless you KNOW them, and they know your car. I've gotten SO much stuff in wrong, and some stuff in mis-boxed (so check it).

Good luck, and I'll get the number to you late tomorrow (unless someone beats me to it).

It sounds like the pneumatic tensioner may also be gone, unless they installed it wrong.
