I have everything apart but I tried short of killing me to get the threaded rod out of the control arm that goes to the sub frame. Tries undoing the other end of the rod at the sub frame but it will not come out either. Thought the control arm would slide right off of this rod. The new control arm came with the rubber grommet but a sleeve or bushing is on the long bolt stuck in the old control arm.

Any ideas?

I had to use the control arm as a handle and rotate it around to break it loose. Or burn the bushing out with a torch.

I used a die grinder and cut back the old bushing enough to grip it with a 7 inch 2 jaw puller. Lots of rust came out. Hope it's okay to use the old strut rod on my new control arm. 1 down, 1 to go.

Got both side done. Free rental of the puller at Auto Zone made the removal of the Strut rod easier. What a job. Took me over 6 hours not including breaks. I'm sure I won't be able to get out of bed in the morning. LOL
