I am in a dilema. I have directional slicers which I like for the factory look, but I need to purchase new tires for them as 2 are cupped and 2 are just basic/all season tires(no-names).
I am also have 17" American Racing Estrella rims w/235/45/17 BFG tires. I have put them on my car once but the wheel gap was terrible with the 17's and there is no way I will put these on without lowering the suspension or purchasing different tires with a higher profile.

Dilema: Should I buy new tires for the slicers or purchase a set of all-season tires with a higher profile for the 17's?
I have the opportunity to purchase some used MIchelin Pilot Sport A/S with 7/32's of tread for very cheap.
I checked the diameter of the 17" Pilots new, and it is 27.1
The diameter for the new 215/60/16 tire I am looking at is 26.1.

So, could it be done? Will I have any rubbing? I cant imagine I would as diameter is roughly the same and width is shouldn't be an issue.
I believe the diameter of the 225/55/17 and a 225/60/16 are the same and I believe there are several people on the forum running 225/60/16 tires on slicers.

I also don't think the profile tire will look bad, as 225/55/17 is standard tire size on 300m's/LHS and the new impala SS with 17's.

Any feedback?

Are you on stock springs?

I would think a 225/50r17 would be better. If the car is lowered a little bit the 235/45r17 should be pretty nice.

I wouldn't get the 225/55/17s for a SHO. They are an inch taller than the stock tires, and you may or may not have clearance inssues with the spring perches. Not to mention, I think it will look kinda truck-ish. I have 215/50/17s on my car w/ stock suspension (for now).
