So my son just bought a 2014 SHO and driving home from the dealer noticed the NAV wasn't working. I told him the SD card was more than likely missing. I went out to check on the location of the card in my 2011 but couldn't find it, thought it was in the center console like on my wifes 2016 Fusion, but no luck. My son did find a slot in his center console near the 2 USB ports and 3 audio jacks but what I am guessing is the slot for the SD is green and isn't clearly marked with the SD logo. So I have 2 questions:

1- where is it located on a 2014?

2- Is there any use for the audio jacks?

3- where is it located on a 2011?

On the 2013 which should be the same the SD card slot in the center console is the maps SD card. The audio jacks are for line in and video can be used when parked. 14 as long as it is still sync 2 it would be the same.

2010-2012 use DVD/CD's to update the nav. 2013-2015 (Sync with MyFordTouch) use SD cards. I get mine on eBay, usually for less that 1/2 the cost that Ford sells them for.

Thanks for that info as I need to update my 2011. Just a few minutes ago I read a post from 2013blacksho that goes back to august 2016 and he says his sho didn't come with Nav. I thought all sho's came with Nav standard?

Please share if you find an update for the 2011s. The last update I found available was to V11.0X which came out in mid-2019. From what I have found so far, they're not supporting the 2011 Sync version any longer or issuing updated maps.

NAV is an option. If you look into Sync2 to Sync3 conversions, there is a list of part 3's that are or are not navigation enabled. They still have a GPS antenna for all models though.

V11.0X is the final version. There are no further updates.

I did a search on standard features, Edmonds and Car and Driver both listed NAV as standard. Now I need to find the best way to add it , any suggestions?

Here is the 2011 brochure and you can see under "Available Options & Packages" where Navigation is listed 2011 Brochure. Adding it to the 2011? I would have to do some research. If it is anything like the Sync2 cars, it would be a module change, adding the hub, and some programming with ForScan. However, at that point, I would probably do a Sync3 upgrade. The 2011 Sync system will only update to V11.0X from 2019. Sync2 will update through A12 which I believe is 2021. Sync3 just had an update in I believe November and is still updating. Sync1 to Sync3 The next option on the horizon is Sync4. It is working on a benchtop but, I have not seen it completed in a car.

I have it on my 2011, works just fine. I was asking about my sons 2014 that he just picked up this past week. His has sync 2 I believe, and had the slot for the side card which is empty at the moment. I just saw how some members have posted they don’t have nav and I thought they all came standard, guess I was wrong. Does same upgrade apply to the 2014, if the sd card doesn’t fix issue? And, I read another member in Wisconsin I think, that was reprogramming the APIM and selling but when I went to the site it was closed.

The 2014 will need the card if it has Nav. I picked mine up off eBay or Amazon for like $20-30. Look for an A12 card if you want Canada/USA or a B12 if you want Mexico/USA. If that does not fix it, I would assume it does not have Nav. At that point, I would do a Sync3 swap. Then at that point, he would have Apple Car Play and Android Auto and you could decide if you wanted Nav or to use his phone for Nav. You can piece together a swap for under $250. Companies sell the swap for like $1800 but it is not hard to do yourself.

Ok that’s great info and $250.00 ish sounds much better than what I’ve been reading. Does it require finding a sync 3 head unit?

How To Guides Here are the main guides I used. There are part numbers and everything you need. I used junkyard parts (including Screen and APIM, the Sync3 head unit as you called it). Hunt around on junkyard sites, Car-Part is my preferred choice. Find someone selling the screen and APIM as one. I picked mine up for $150 shipped for both parts. After that, it is pretty much an antenna, a hub, and a jumper harness. Download ForScan (I recommend the lifetime license, it is handy for any Ford you have) and get a OBD II connector. Then it is pretty straight forward. ForScan will provide many other options for both of your cars. After I did the Sync3 swap, I dove into CyanLabs to get the absolute latest Sync3 and then into FMods for a jail break and couple changes. You can stop with just a swap though.
