With all due respect...

It's a paper air filter. Unless it says Kleenex on the box, it'll do fine. ****, I'd even use a Fram paper air filter and not think twice.

A different paper air filter will not affect your mileage or power output unless it is soiled, regardless of what it says on the box.

I agree with Racer X, definately would spend twice the amount on another paper filter. I do however think the replacement K&N Filter is a worthwhile upgrade.

Currently using an AEM Round paper filter with custom CAI. I had a K & N on our Denali for over 70K with no issues. I did use a K & N Filter cover, which I also am using on the AEM on "Brick", and other round filters (both K & N oiled and Amsoil non-oiled filters on my G8's). But... they're not available for a drop in.

I don't think I will be using the K&N.

What I was hoping for was a better performing paper filter. Filtering ability is the most important factor. Although K&N is not a poor filter it does not do as well, they admit 1% difference, and worse over time. I think I could use one if I had no choice but I'll take the OEM over the K&N due to the knowledge I have gathered. For filtering they are not as good.

Where are the foam or other type filteres that are made with performance in mind like the paper ones?

We've all heard it said that OEM use paper for a reason and I am going to stand with that crowd for now.

Don't miss the Emmys dress-up show-off. My girls can't get thier eyes off that crap tonight.

K&N won't hurt a thing, I've lost count of how many cars I've had K&N filters in. The miniscule difference in filtration will never be noticed by the engine and you get a little in mpg from what I've seen in the past.

Newad, no real setup. Just open the lid your factory airbox, remove the filter and drop in the new one, then replace the lid. You don't have to be a "gearhead" at all to change the filter. As far as oiling, after you clean it, it just gets re-oiled. Again, it's pretty easy, just don't over oil it. It's not real frequent that this part needs to be done anyway

JUST DON'T OVER OIL IT....

K & N oiling kits available at parts stores or on line where you get K & N filters.

I have used them with no issues - see above post- but have heard of some cars throwing codes due to oiling... Guess Caddy CTS with DI have had some issues.

Unless you have a hard time following the instructions on the side of the can, I still don't see how people manage to over oil their filters.

I bought the car with a K&N panel, and currently have the SHO Shop fender mounted CAI, with the oval can. I haven't had an issue with either.

if you do manage to over oil the filter use a shop vac to suck up the excess oil

if you live in the sahara, dubai, afghanistan, african wilderness or aussie outback

then maybe the K&N is a bad idea

the car is already depreciating and wearing down the longer you hang on to it anyway, so to save around $50-75 or a bit more depending on driver/conditions in yearly gas savings over a filter isn't really worth going with paper

i have a K&N and managed to get 29mpg at 70-80mph running on 93/94 octane on my way to and back from washington dc
