Mystery plug

The goofball that had my '90 SHO before me left a bunch of stuff unpluged under the hood (including the connection for the secondaries ). Now I have an gray plug with an oval shell and a rectangular section in the center, its a three wire with black w/ white stripe, brown w/ white stripe, and orange w/ green stripe. Its located under the TB and toward the rear head. Anybody know what this could be for? I'm not getting any check engine lights but since this is the only SHO I have every driven, I don't know if its not running properly.

That is more than likely the plug for the egr sensor which unless you have a California emissions SHO,you do not have the egr setup on your car.So it is not a problem that it is un-plugged and will not throw any codes.

Wait wait.....you guys are good. I got one.
I found an oval shelled plug hanging down in the very front drivers side by a square plastic vacume/pollution box. Its hanging on the outside of the frame with no where to go.
Any ideas on that one?

daytime running light connector

That square plastic box is the charcoal purge canister. Make sure that the purge solenoid that's along the hose a few inches towards the intake is plugged in because the loose connector might belong to the purge solenoid.

Or is it possible its not equipped and the plug is just there?

Canada made daytime running lights mandatory in 89 or 90, so all Taurii wiring harnesses were made with the hookup for DRL. however, to use the DRL and your vehicle was never shipped to Canada, you have to go down to the Ford House and by the DRL module.

Thank you...!!! I noticed that same unused plug on my motor, and for the past two and a half years I have been wondering what the **** that was for. I had pretty much narrowed it down to that, but I was never sure. thumbs_u

i have a small piece of advice ... the plug that goes into the coolant tank... disconnect it as soon as you read this.it can cause your car to catch fire. my father buys and sells crashed cars and he has purchased a few like that...

Do you mean the plug to the radiator coolant resovior?

I dunno, but being a SHO its probably a pretty important connection. And knowing ford it controls the headlights, and the fuel pump
