for those of you in the know you will remember i sold the civic and started a new project, its a 71 datsun 240z with a turbo LS1 and t56 6 speed, the rear end is a r200 conversion with modern motor sports billet hubs and CV adapters and the axles are custom drive shaft shop stage 5s. ( i broke one already and DSS made improvements and sent them back to me to try again ) any way here is my dyno video , keep in mind its a bone stock LS1 with high mileage and a conservative 93 octane tune.

here is one of the better passes i made so far. it wasnt a perfect pass due to my stereo shooting out and pinning my shifter in second gear, 60ft was 1.45 1/8th mph was 103 and 1/4 ET was 10.3 @ 136

My envious side says, "Niiicccee, wish it was mine." :3gears:

My smarta$$ side says, "Puts down about the same wHP as my 3L SHO". :dig:

well keep in mind that this is a very rich and low timing safe tune due to the motor being bone stock and it has over 100K on it.the goal at the dyno wasnt to make big power it was to dial in a nice smooth daily driven tune, it just happened to make 508 with out even breaking a sweat and we figured it was a good number to stop at. if i wasnt to concerned about how tired it is and wanting it to last me while i could turn the boost up and add some timing and go well over 650 with ease. in the end the whp isnt what impressed me with this set up its the 545 ft ibs of tq at only 4500 rpm:dribble:

here are some pics as requested

So sick and cool! I like this a LOT more than a 600hp civic. Nice ride.

both cars were fun to build and drive, what has me liking this one more is the RWD traction and low end grunt, plus being a 6 speed i can idle along at freeway speeds at 1500 rpm.

I've always loved the old Z's... then mate it to the most capable mainstream V8 ever made = pure sex. I love everything about that car, the powertrain, the interior, the color, the wheels. You're daily driving one of my wet dreams. Awsome car!

Both cars are SICK!!!

The honda was amazing towards the top end. 100-140 mph in a few seconds.

;)

The datsun throw's you back in the seat the first three gears like NO honda could!

;)

My favorite part is the fact that both cars were/are easy to work on.

Brings back memories, had a '73, last year for the 240.

What is the nose off of, it's not 240...

I had a 72 that I bought in 77 and restored it from rotted out Chicago car to nice AZ car, took it on our honeymoon in 78. Great cruising car but the gas pedal ratio sucked. It was hard to do a smooth acceleration in that car. Great car nonetheless. Sold it with 197,000 miles on it and the guy that bought it did a compression test on it. He couldn't believe it had that many miles and still had such great compression.

I think that hood is from a 260 or 280Z.
