The trans in my 89 is fried. I bought a salvaged one for 300 bucks from a 92, they also threw in the rod shifter :burnout: I read through the article on shotimes.com on the conversion and it doesnt seem too bad. Anybody have any tips on the conversion? I was planning on finishing the trans swap today, but its nice and rainy so its a no go. So I'm bored and just reading up on what needs to be done.

Should be pretty straightforward. You will have to cut a hole in the unibody for the shifter and get the exhaust bent to go around the shifter box.

Get ready for a much better shift feel!

Not much else to it besides what you see on the SHOtimes site. You might want to take out the white plastic blocks, behind the black shifter box, clean them up and put a medium layer of grease on the slots on them. They tend to creak after a while and using some grease will hopefully give you time before it gets that way. Other than that you should be good to go. Good luck with the rod shifter upgrade. Also verify that they gave you all the correct parts for the shifter.
